Nile river journey landscape

Journeys

Three frameworks, countless variations

These are pacing templates — not rigid packages. Adjust nights, swap a reef for Alexandria, or stretch Theban Shore when temples take hold of you.

How to use a History Pass journey

Pick the arc that matches your energy. Then open the matching Atlas regions for site-level detail. Leave one buffer half-day in every week.

Great Pyramid

Framework 01 · 10–12 days

The Nile Arc

Cairo/Giza → Luxor → Aswan, with optional short cruise between Theban Shore and Nile South.

Days 1–3

Giza Plateau

Plateau morning, museum afternoon, one soft city evening. Protect sleep before the southbound transfer.

Days 4–7

Theban Shore

East Bank, West Bank, buffer. Resist stacking tombs and Karnak on the same scorched afternoon.

Days 8–10

Nile South

Philae, felucca, optional Abu Simbel. Fly out from Aswan or return via Cairo.

Optional +2

Alexandria coda

Mediterranean Gate as a cooler finale before departure.

Red Sea coast

Framework 02 · 12–14 days

Plateau to Coast

Antiquity inland, then Coral Coast recovery — ideal when you want reefs without skipping the classics.

  • Days 1–2 Giza & Cairo orientation.
  • Days 3–6 Theban Shore deep stay.
  • Days 7–8 Optional Aswan slice — or fly coast-bound earlier if heat is intense.
  • Days 9–13 Coral Coast: one quality boat day, many unstructured shore hours.
  • Transfer logic Prefer one long transfer over three short hops in 48 hours.
Open Coral Coast
Sinai mountains

Framework 03 · 9–11 days

Sinai & Reef

For travellers who want mountains and Gulf water first — with a compact Cairo/Giza preface or postscript.

Days 1–2

Giza preface (optional)

One strong plateau day if you need the classic silhouette before heading east.

Days 3–8

Sinai Heights

Coast base, one inland height day, reef recovery, star night if camping.

Flex

Extend or exit

Add Coral Coast mainland via ferry/flight patterns only with generous buffers.

Pacing principles we refuse to break

These rules keep journeys humane when enthusiasm tries to overpack the calendar.

1major outdoor site block per peak-heat window
½day left empty each week on purpose
0back-to-back pre-dawn starts without recovery

Journey FAQ

Can I DIY these routes?

Yes. History Pass is editorial. Hire licensed drivers/guides locally, book lodging yourself, and treat our frameworks as pacing advice.

Trains, flights, or cruises?

Flights save energy on long hops. Night trains can be atmospheric if you accept variable comfort. Cruises shine between Luxor and Aswan when you want luggage to move while you sleep.

Travelling with children or elders?

Shorten West Bank days, prioritise shade, and favour Coral Coast or Alexandria buffers. Contact us for a softened outline.

What if I only have a week?

Choose one arc fragment: Giza + Theban Shore, or Giza + Coral Coast. Depth beats a blur of transfers.
